Oh I hope you got the heat back on. That is no fun. Our furnance went kaput in the wee hours of Christmas Morning last year. We woke up to a very, very chilly house, as if Santa forgot to close the door behind him. Wasn't fixed until 2 days later, so lots of baking and snuggling under blankets. These cookies look great. First time I found your blog, so glad I did! New subscriber!

Ugh, I feel your pain! My near perfect husband has a fatal flaw - won't let me turn on the heater. Thank god he goes to sleep later. My space heater In the bedroom is a life saver. I haven't made cookies in our new place yet. To do this weekend when it rains!

I baked a batch of cookies for the first time in months a couple of weeks ago, and I also find them comforting. I have such great memories of baking chocolate chip cookies with my mom when I was a kid. These might be my next batch of cookies.

I hope your new place warms up! The northerner in me must scoff at your deathly cold 20 degrees F, though :)

As far as a cold house goes, I can share in the misery! After the northeast's surprise October snow storm (leaving my north Jersey town under more than two feet of the fluffy stuff) I was without power for 5 days. 4 nights of sleeping in front of the fireplace alone in 3,000 square feet of 20 degree weather is not high on my list of repeat events.

Also, I like your mention of how cookies can make the home. My mother is in real estate, and did you know many agents bake cookies in the houses they're showing immediately before an open house?
